Wendy started dance at the age of three and was teaching by the age of 15. She began her training at The Dancer’s Workshop in Yuma, AZ under the direction of Linda Farrar. A few years later she danced as a junior member of the Yuma Ballet Theater under Kathleen Sinclair and Jon Cristofori until moving to the Imperial Valley area.

After high school Wendy attended UCLA and began studying dance at Edge Performing Arts Center in Hollywood, CA. It was there she received training from Tap Master Gregg Russell, who became her biggest tap influence. While continuing her college studies, Wendy began teaching at several studios in the Los Angeles area. During summer visits with her family, Wendy co-founded Tap Kids, a tap program for former students in her hometown. In 2001, Wendy graduated from UCLA with degrees in English and Music History. After moving to Carlsbad in 2002, Wendy began teaching at the Carlsbad Dance Centre and working for NAMM and the Museum of Making Music.

In May of 2004, Wendy left her desk job to pursue her dream of teaching dance full-time. Wendy continues to expand her dance knowledge through classes offered by Edge in Los Angeles, master classes at the LA Tap Festival and Tap Into the Network, and various dance conventions throughout Southern California and Hawaii.

In the summer of 2008, Wendy began dancing with Gregg Russell’s tap company, Tapsounds Underground and performed in Dancers Unite, a fundraising concert for food and healthcare in Africa. Later that year, Wendy started the Carlsbad Dance Centre Performance Company with the goal of giving opportunities to CDC students to perform in the community. In April 2010, she became the Assistant Director of Carlsbad Dance Centre. In September of last year, Wendy fulfilled another long-time dream by founding Tap & Soul, a non-profit dance company with the goal of using tap dancing as a means to promote awareness in the community of different charitable organizations. Tap & Soul’s premiere concert raised money for Cure ATRT Now on behalf of former CDC student, Claire Devins.
